HISTORY AND PURPOSE OF LITTLE MIRACLES
Our layette ministry began in 1999. A remnant WELCA group from Good Samaritan Lutheran Church decided to begin the ministry. We started modestly with the following members: Judy Johnson, Helen Harrah, Mrs. Nolte, Carol Connor, Vivian Davis, Trudi Keys, and Lynda Bennes. One layette at a time gradually increased to four layettes. Things have evolved, and today, we make ten layettes at a time. Over the years, various recipients have been Lutheran Social Services, Living Grace Homes for Unwed Mothers, First Choice Pregnancy Center in Pahrump, Nevada, and various private recipients who have been brought to our attention. Our goal is to provide three days of newborn supplies to assist mothers with limited assets in caring for their newborns at home.
RELATED INFORMATION
Our supplies include many new items and some gently used items. We do take donations. Our meeting schedule is above. You may join us at any time. Drop in and see what happens at our layette meeting.
PARTNERSHIPS
Many people make this ministry possible. Thanks to all who donate items. Thanks to all who come and assemble the layettes. Organizations also should be acknowledged. GSLC provides facilities, storage, and items (e.g. Bibles). Thanks also to Thrivent Financial® for the Action Team seed money. Most importantly, we thank God that we can help His little miracles. We are blessed to be a blessing.
